#21: YOURS IS NOT TO WORRY...

I know life can be such a mess sometimes. In such situations you'd feel as though everything is beyond your control. However, yours is not to worry over that which you have no control.

Lost a loved one? I mean, if you ever did, it can be such a terrible feeling.

The only thing you ought to do in such situations is to control your emotions and reactions towards it since you really can't change what happened.

It takes a lot of willpower to do that but hell yeah, it's damn effective. Instead of externalizing your problems, this will you teach you to control your reactions from within.

The Stoic Philosopher, Epictetus knew this. He once noted that “The Chief task in life is simply this: to identify and separate matters so that I can say clearly to myself which are externals not under my control, and which have to do with the choices I actually control.

“Where then do I look for good and evil? Not to uncontrollable externals, but within myself to the choices that are my own...”

Thus, learn to manage your reactions towards what happens to you, because in an infinite space of time, that's what matters most.
